Price Points RFID reader module via ethernet – $1,679.98 RFID transmitter w/ tags (passive) from radioshack: $40 Article- Passive RFID Tags Active in Asset Tracking The following article talks about how RFID systems work and discusses a nice algorithm for locating where the RFID tag is. The first two pages or so are all that is really needed to be read. http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=4215729&isnumber=4215582
This arcticle talks about integrating STAMP with RFID. http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=4622926&isnumber=4622781 |

He said that we would be able to determine by room where a patient would be located using only zigbee. This is how it boils down. Depending on what frequency we go with determines the maximum range of each module. So each module would generate a circle with a radius of that range that it could cover. By overlapping the circles you can make sure that every spot will be covered. If multiple receivers pick up a signal what you have to do is simply compare the signal strengths of the incoming signals and BAM you know which receiver you are closest to. Also he said that every receiver in the network knows where it is so we would essentially be mapping the receiver id to a room or quadrant. This means we are putting a receiving module in each and every room with a limited range. He said that his company makes a 900MHz model that is able to transmit up to 2 miles or something like that which might also be useful. The company Ryan works for: LSR Research LLC www.lsr.com |
